In-Dash Head Unit Installation
This page is dedicated to the basic istallation of an In-Dash Head Unit. We will cover wiring color codes, wiring connections, Installation Kits and any pictures if available. Most color coding has been universalized for car stereos over the years making installation easier. However, vehicle manufactureres have not yet adopted this practice. Although Vehicle Power (red), Ground (black), illumination (yellow) Dimmer (orange) have been universalized, color codes for speaker wires and other functions have not. These could/will vary from vehicle maunactuer.
Color codes: Head Unit (vehicle color wiring may be different, check your vehicles manual) Or, a source with the info. Red - Positive (+) Power (power wire)
Black - Negaitve (-) Ground (ground wire)
Yellow - Constant + Illumination/Memory (connect to yellow wiring in vehicle, this wire is for Memory and the backlight on the buttons and on the Head Unit)
Orange - Switched + Dimmer Contol (Connect to vehicles dimmer control wire)
Blue - Power Antenna control
Blue/White Stripe - Remote turn-on/power antenna (to be connected to amplifier or power antenna. This will control amplifier or power antenna turn-on/off with the Head Unit, or any remotely powered component, i.e. external crossover, EQ...etc...etc)
Blue/Yellow Stripe - Steering wheel remote input
Purple/White Stripe - For optional rear view camera (connect to cars reverse lamp harness)
Light Green - Parking lamp Sensor (DVD players only. Connect to vehicles parking brake detection switch harn
